As a self-taught graphic and web designer, Erika Gordon was introduced to the world of church media when she joined the staff of a large North Carolina church. After serving for five years, and learning the nuances of preparing for weekly services, she felt God call her to be a part of a new church plant in the Washington, DC metro area. She packed her bags and headed north, not fully realizing this journey would expose her to the other side of service preparation; the limitations faced by smaller churches. Gone were the days of large budgets and teams with designated personnel. Instead, it was replaced with “jack of all trade” volunteers with the majority of responsibility falling on the pastor’s shoulders. This first-hand experience of large versus small church structure prompted the creation of Collab Media and the vision of providing a one-stop shop where churches with limited time, personnel, and most importantly budget, can get quality sermon design packages for their worship services.
